Glossary
The language of loyalty gifting.
Plain definitions of the terms that come up when a brand stops shipping gifts itself and starts running a gifting operation.
Terms
- Loyalty gifting
- Rewarding customers, players or employees with a real, physical product instead of points, cash or a discount code. The gift is chosen from a catalog and delivered to the recipient under the brand that awarded it.
- White-label storefront
- A gift store that carries the operating brand end to end — domain, design, copy, packaging and invoice. The platform running it is invisible to the recipient, who only ever sees the brand they already have a relationship with.
- Provider veil
- Keeping the real fulfilment supplier masked from the recipient. Tracking, packaging and support all present the operating brand, so a gift sourced from three different providers still arrives as one branded experience.
- Provider abstraction
- Treating many fulfilment suppliers as one interface. The brand sends a single order; the platform decides which provider serves each line, in which country, and reconciles the results back into one order.
- Redemption
- The moment a recipient converts a reward, points balance or entitlement into an actual gift. Redemption is where a loyalty programme stops being a ledger entry and becomes a delivery.
- Gift fulfilment
- Everything between a chosen gift and a delivered one: sourcing, stock, customs, carrier, tracking, and the incident handling when a parcel is lost, damaged or refused.
- Order splitting
- Breaking one order into several provider shipments automatically, because no single supplier covers every product and country. The brand still sees one order with one status and one set of tracking.
- Multi-brand hierarchy
- A parent brand with sub-brands operating in different markets, each with its own catalog, currency, storefront and API keys, but sharing one integration and one commercial relationship.
- Automation rule
- A condition that fires a reward without anyone pressing a button — a deposit threshold, a tier upgrade, a work anniversary, an NPS score. Rules are what turn gifting from a campaign into a always-on programme.
- Catalog curation
- Selecting, from a global catalog, the subset a given audience may actually redeem — filtered by market, budget band, brand-safety rules and local deliverability.
- Billing model
- How a brand pays for gifting: prepaid balance drawn down per order, a monthly fee, or invoiced per order. Programmes commonly run more than one at once across markets.
- Agentic MCP mode
- Exposing the gifting platform to AI assistants over the Model Context Protocol, so an agent can query the catalog, place an order or check an incident on the operator’s behalf, under the same permissions a person would have.
